Brandan Walton

The 6'2 185 sophomore guard out of Compton, CA has given a verbal commitment to play basketball at North Texas for the 2011-2012 season.  Walton averaged 11.3 points per game for the Thunderbirds last season as a freshman, while he averaged 20 points in three regional tournament games and hit 5 three pointers in one game.  The sharp shooter drew interest from Wyoming, Boise St, Wichita St, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Portland St, Sacramento State, Cal-State Northridge as well as San Jose State.  This past July, Brandan was invited to the top 120 junior college showcase in Tulsa which featured the top players in the country at the junior college level.

North Texas has been coming off a couple great years of success for their men's basketball program.  The "Mean Green" captured its second Sun Belt Championship with a 66-63 victory over Troy in the tournament finals.  North Texas had a school and conference record four players named to all-conference teams as well as 24 wins on the year.  Walton will be joining a team who has seen recent exposure to the NCAA tournament and with the Casper College guard; they look to get there again!
