Joel Davidson and staff strike again with another verbal commitment from Boulder, CO native. 6’3", 180 pound guard, Nate McGinley, will be joining the Thunderbirds next season. Out of Centaurus High School, Nate is one of the top players and leading scorers in the state of Colorado and is considered to be one of the best shooters in this senior class. So far this season (2011-2012), McGinley is averaging 22.3 ppg, 4.8 assists a contest, and 2.8 steals a game, while pulling down 3.3 rebounds a game.
As a junior, this sharp shooter averaged 18.7 ppg, 4.0 assists, 5.3 rebounds a game, and two steals. He was also named First Team All-Conference Team. With his length, quickness, and shooting ability, he puts himself right in the mix for what Coach Joel Davidson is looking towards for next season. “His ability to get out and guard defensively, plus his shooting ability obviously, and his strong handle, we have a player who can come in right away and help us.” Assistant Coach Dan Russell said of Nate.
“His athleticism and toughness are also a huge plus, because with his skill set, he can do a lot of things on both sides of the ball.”
While being a key recruit for the Thunderbirds, he is another highly touted guard who Davidson will add to the list of recruits he has coming in for the 2012-2013 season. Joel Davidson continues to add to what is looking to be a talented list of guards in this recruiting class. Nate is someone the T-Birds think will continue the long line of great guard play at Casper College.
Before deciding to commit to Casper College, McGinley was recruited by Colorado State, Colorado, American University, Butler, Yale, Portland State, West Point, Air Force, Sacramento State, Eastern Washington, Idaho State, and Northern Colorado at the Division I level, as well as being recruited by College of Southern Idaho and Cochise Community College in the Junior College ranks.
