Davidson Inks Another Division 1 Transfer

Joel Davidson announces one more Division I transfer, Tyler Reynolds, from Eugene, OR.  A product of the pacific northwest, Tyler will be transferring from Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he played in 28 games for the Knights while playing close to 14 minutes a contest, averaging three points per game. On January 27,2011, against Long Island University, Tyler scored 14 points, including 4 three-pointers.
The 6’4”, 185 pound guard joins the Casper College Thunderbirds via Fairleigh Dickinson and previously, Westwind Prep Academy in Phoenix, AZ. He is a shooter who is developing his handle, while also learning to play without the ball in his hands. “Our staff was impressed with the way Tyler improved over the course of the year after he left Westwind Prep Academy. He did a great deal of work to improve during his time at FDU.  He got a lot bigger and his ability to shoot the ball coming off screens and catch an shoot, were at a high level.”  Said Coach Davidson of Reynolds.  The coaching staff was impressed with his work ethic and grit as not a player, but a kid as well.
Reynolds was a first team, All-Southwest Conference selection for the Irish as a senior, but did not have any Division I scholarship offers. At the recommendation of Boise State coach Greg Graham, Reynolds decided to go to prep school for a year and he averaged eight points per game for a team that finished second at the National Prep School Championships. That team consisted of six other players who all signed to play in the Division I ranks.  Tyler was named Second Team All-League as a junior and First Team All-League as a senior.  Before choosing Fairleigh Dickinson University, Tyler was also recruited by San Francisco, Boise State, Quinnipiac, San Jose State, and Central Connecticut State.
“We are extremely happy about getting a kid like Tyler. His ability to really shoot the ball from the perimeter as well as his ability to guard the ball defensively will be a tremendous asset to the T-Birds. He is a tenacious kid, and his experience from being at the Division I level will definitely benefit our team this season.” Davidson mentioned.

Aussie Big Man Signs with Joel Davidson and Casper College

Joel Davidson and the Casper College Men’s Basketball Staff are happy to announce the signing of Daniel Carlin of Adelaide, South Australia. The 6’9”, 220-pound post from Down Under is considered to be one of the highest touted recruits to come out of Australia this year.  Daniel spent time at the Australian Institute of Sports, which has pumped out a plethora of Division I players in the last 30 years.  He spent several years at Trinity College in South Australia as well.  Daniel was a starting five member of the Australian u/17 team that played in the World Championships in Hamburg, Germany, scoring 27 points in the team’s final game.  “We couldn’t be happier about adding Dan to our roster here at Casper College. His athleticism for his size, ability to score on the block and change shots defensively, as he is a big defensive presence, will be a huge piece to the puzzle for our program this year.” said Coach Davidson of the new addition from Australia.

Daniel has a trophy case full of accolades, including playing in the 2010 FIBA U17 World Championships in Germany, where his team placed 6^th overall. In 2009, he participated on the FIBA Oceania U17 Team that played in the championships and won gold. In addition to playing on a myriad of successful teams, Daniel also accrued a variety of individual awards.  Dan was a U18 South Australia team selection, he was awarded the AIS Scholarship, was a 2007 and 2008 U16 South Australia team selection.  

Daniel’s personal accolades don’t end there. This highly impressive player can also boast participation in the u/17 World Championships for Australia in Hamburg, Germany, in 2010 where his team placed 6^th and Dan was the second highest scorer for the team; he was the Trinity college Basketball MVP, Captain and Sportsperson of the year; 2009 Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder; 2009 South Australia Junior “Basketballer” of the year; 2009 FIBA Oceania qualifier for Australia where his highest ppg was 15.6; won Division I national school championship in 2009 with Trinity College; was a 5-time player for the South Australia State Side at the Australia National Championships from 2007-2011.

Dominique and Demetrius Lee

Demetrius and new signee Dominique Lee were featured in the norcalbasketball.blogspot.com recently as Dominique transfered in from the University of Utah to join forces with his twin brother, Demetrius! The twins from Berkeley, CA will both wear the same uniform again this coming season for Coach Joel Davidson and the Casper College Thunderbirds!

Denzel Douglas

The Thunderbirds point guard Denzel Douglas from Los Angeles, CA (Westchester High School) was invited to the Full Court Press Junior College & and Top Unsigned Senior Showcase in Long Beach, CA at Cabrillo High School over the weekend. Douglas came out one of the top performers as well as one of top point guards at the event!
